“It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol.”
-Brene Brown
Retreats hosted by Healing Roots and Deep Wells Healing Arts provide space for rest, renewal, and rejuvenation. Each retreat is designed as a purposeful time of connection, comfort, warmth, and healing and generally center around a theme such as self-care, trauma, grief, rest, or re-energizing. A focus of all retreats is to allow participants to disconnect from the demands of daily life and experience a greater sense of overall well-being - Body, Soul and Spirit. We share in a time of trauma conscious yoga, art and creative expression, nature (often on water and land), journaling, reflection and sharing, and enjoying delicious foods and fellowship in a cozy, comfortable home or retreat center.

Facilitators
Victoria Nolen, LPC, RYT, YF-A
Victoria works as a somatic psychotherapist and trauma sensitive YogaFaith instructor in Toccoa, GA. She describes herself as a yogi in practice, dancer at heart, and mermaid in spirit. Victoria's love for teaching yoga stems from the joy of creating a sacred and relaxing space where people of all backgrounds can come to move, breathe, connect, and belong. Knowing God for who He truly is, revealing His heart to others, and helping people foster greater connection (with God, themselves, and others) continues to be her heart focus and life's mission.
Kristina Tucker, LPC, R-YFT
Kristina works as a trauma therapist and yoga-instructor primarily virtually and occasionally in person in North Georgia. She is a counselor, yogi, often over-worker, deep-thinker, deep-feeler, mama, wife, and creative. Kristina’s passion for healing work stem from her own realization of how being in the process of becoming, healing, and transforming changes how she interacts with the world around her for the better. She sees her purpose as helping others to become more fully themselves allowing them to be in intimate and honest connection with God and others.
Retreat Activities
Yoga
Restorative, renewing and regenerating - whether you're new to yoga or a seasoned yogi, Kristina and Victoria will invite you to join in several trauma informed, faith based yoga sessions designed especially for rest.
Art, Creating, and Meaning Making
Whether you’re an artist or fearful of anything creative, Kristina will provide a space of exploring our thoughts, motivations, passions, and selves through many mediums. All that is necessary for this session is an open mind and the willingness to explore!
Nature
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. … There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” —Rachel Carson, Silent Spring
Have time and space to explore, walk, notice, and rest throughout the weekend as we are surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation.
SUP and Kayak on the Lake
Our lake home for the weekend allows you to step out of the backdoor to paddleboarding and kayaking on Lake Hartwell. We’ll have Breathe and Wander time throughout our retreat where you can enjoy whatever options feel most restorative and fun to you.
Group Sandtray
Sandtray is a tactile and therapeutic art form that gives a voice to our subconscious. We will be joining in a sacred group process that explores and gives honor to ourselves and each other.
Exploring through Writing
Writing is a way that many make sense of their inner world. As the words flow from a jumbled mess inside of us, they tumble out on the page into some semblance of what we really feel and believe. Writing will be gently woven throughout our retreat as a means of continued exploration and meaning-making.
From Past Retreats:
“I enjoyed it all. Again, I appreciated the Faith Yoga aspect as it was new to me. Victoria has a gift. Also, I enjoyed the workshops, discussions, and debriefs with Kristina. She's a great teacher.”
“I really felt a connection with God over the weekend… Particularly during yoga, there were times that there was a sense of peace and calm just by connecting with Him, but other times a sense of power that came from being His daughter.”
“Both of you ladies did an amazing job putting together this event. Seriously. It was above and beyond expectation. Would absolutely 100% recommend. 5 stars. Let's do it again.”
Location
Retreats generally take place in the North East Georgia Mountains
