Hope can be a loaded word and hard thing to find in some seasons. I know for myself there have been times where I have been full of questions and doubts- stretches of time when I have felt hopeless and helpless. Yet, there have been other seasons where I could easily point to where my hope is found and tell others about it. Wherever you find yourself on the spectrum of hope, this class was created as a safe space for you to explore what the word hope has for you. As we move through the different postures and shapes, there is an opportunity to notice what hope feels like in your body as well as an invitation to allow yourself to more fully embody hope if (and only if) it feels well for you.

I hope you enjoy this class! May the time you take to honor yourself and your spiritual practice benefit you and bring you back to yourself and an experience of living with hope.

What does it look like to find peace when circumstances are messy and imperfect? What if we could have peace when you’re too busy or there is chaos, tension, doubt, despair, and darkness? Our practice will be a chance to explore the both/and with these questions.  May we learn to cultivate peace in the midst of it all.

This practice is 30 minutes of a lose flow series followed by 30 minutes of a combination of yin and restorative to end class. Hips and core focused as we embody and practice peace. Unfortunately, Zoom and I are in a technology war, so there is no video component to this class at this time. If you are familiar with yoga, you can likely follow along with the audio recording of this class. I am working on letting perfectionism go, expanding on my own practice of peace, and letting this be messy for the time being; thanks for the grace, friends.

In this week’s yoga and self-care session, we explore joy. For the first 15 minutes of class, we engage with joy through journaling and using our 5 senses to connect with our joyous items. The remaining 45 minutes is a yin yoga practice where we hold postures/shapes for an extended length of time. It is a deep stretching and slower practice with the intention of releasing and finding joy in stillness versus the boisterous and loud joy which is perhaps more common. For this practice you'll need a bolster, blanket, and your mat as well as 3 small items that bring you joy and your journal. Remember to cue up the playlist as you practice if you desire!

Joy:

  • a feeling of great pleasure and happiness; delight, gladness, bliss

  • An intense feeling of deep spiritual connection, pleasure, and appreciation

  • “Good mood of the soul”

  • Often sudden, unexpected, short-lasting, and high-intensity. It’s characterized by a connection with others, or with God, nature, or the universe.  It expands our thinking and attention, it fills us with freedom and abandon
